Saw an Ivy Flea :
for a good price on Craigslist just before Christmas and snagged it. What a lovely instrument. Nice tone, plays well. Took it with me on Christmas vacation, and realized how nice it is to travel with an instrument.

Potential weather problems for 11th get together
Looks like the weather may not agree with having our jam on Tuesday....though if anyone lives close by and wants to come over, I won't turn you away. Please use your best judgement.
I live 10 houses away (closer to Walnut street), so we may end up playing at my house instead. The town of Cary is pretty good at getting the roads cleared quickly. Just call me at 919-345-4591 and let me know you are coming. If I don't hear from anyone, I'll assume it's off. Better luck for the 25th.

First Uke Jam happened Dec. 14th - More to come!
On Dec. 14, we had a fun evening playing Christmas carols (and other music). I'm looking forward to future evenings. Future events are scheduled for 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. Next meeting is January 11th. Bring snacks or drinks if you wish.
Hope to see you there.

Uke books, snacks at jam
I have ordered copies of Jumpin Jim's "Daily Ukelele", "Ukelele Christmas" and "Happy Holidays" to have at the jam on the 14th. I'm looking forward to having more material to practice and I love Christmas music. Please drop me a line if you are planning to come. Cookies and other snacks welcome. I'll provide the beverages.

First meeting of the Cary Uke Jam
What : Cary Uke Jam
When : Tuesday, December 14th (second Tuesday)
Time : 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Where : 1136 Sturdivant Drive, Cary NC
Hopefully this will become an monthly event (second Tuesday) at which people from around the Triangle (Cary, Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) can bring their ukes and have fun playing and socializing. The plan is to do this on every second Tuesday.
A Tuesday night event allows those to attend who don't have Monday nights free to attend the Durham Jam (1st and 3rd Mondays).
FYI, this is in a residential neighborhood. On street parking is OK, but please be considerate of the neighbors.
Since we are approaching Christmas, feel free to bring appropriate snacks. I'm planning to have songbooks available. More info to follow in general. Please contact me at tkarches@gmail.com for more information.
Cheers,
Tom
